BELHAVEN SURF CLUB
The Belhaven surf club was created as an informal surf club in 2007 with local surfers getting together for socials and national competitions.
In 2019 the new Belhaven surf centre was built with one of the core aims to become a performance base for our young local surfers. In early 2021, coast to coast teamed up with some very keen local parents to re launch the Belhaven Surf club and create a new high performance junior surf team which officially launched in December 2021.
In 2021 the Scottish Surfing Federation also launched a new junior series of competitions around Scotland and Belhaven (BHSC) had finalists in the Thurso, Pease Bay and Fraserburgh competitions.
In 2023 we had 6 kids represent the Scottish team in various internationals. In 2025 we had two junior shortboard age group champions and 6 second places and our first junior to make senior national champions in longboarding. We also had two go to the world championships in Peru and Rosie Moore being the first of our club aged 15yrs to make a round at that level. In 2026 we are delighted to say that 8 of the 12 Scottish team members selected for the European Junior Surf Championships in Ireland are from Belhaven Surf Club. Really is fantastic how the club has grown!
With formal coaching (12-20 surf and skate sessions a year) and a one week summer training camp the club oes from success to success. We welcome new young members to the team each year and are looking to equality in our make up by 2027 . We are also developing young surfers and many have now graduated into jobs within the industry.
On the competition side we will host the Gathering of the Clans, Scotlands club championships in September and have already hosted the longboard nationals in May 2026.

If interested in team selection – young surfers should either (a) send video to coast to coast surf school (b) impress in coast to coast lessons (c) or enter a local or national junior surf competition and do well. The minimum expectation is unbroken wave riding with control and the older the junior the more we would expect to see. It also helps to be within an hours drive of Dunbar and flexible to get to training on Friday afternoons. We expect all of our team to attend one competition a year alongside a dedication to training.
